I glanced at my watch. Past two in the morn, Sydney time. No wonder I was feeling a bit lethargic. Just a couple of hours ago, we landed in Bali. Our Jetstar bird poured tons of flip-flopping Aussies into Denpasar International Airport. They dashed towards the visa on arrival cashier, obviously aware of the drill. It was six-ish in the evening, Central Indonesia Time, and all them twenty somethings were probably rushing to get the party started.
We on the other hand, were simply glad to be back in Bali. Our backpacks were the last to be fished out of the belt. We sauntered out of the airport, and stepped into a 27°C refuge. Already, the cruelty of schizo-weathered Sydney (where we bedsurfed for a month) felt like a distant memory.
A driver who agreed to a 100,000 rupiah fare from the airport to Sanur took us to Sunhouse Guest House. One of the staff promptly opened the gate as our cab pulled over, and led us to our room named Hibiscus. Its location at the corner of the courtyard gave the room a private feel. It was love at first sight.
The interior was spick-and-span when we arrived. Tastefully decorated, though there’s not much floorspace. Blame it on the colossal four-poster bed, which by the way worked for us since the hubby and I shared the bed with our two-year old daughter so we’re not totally complaining. There’s a TV, a DVD player, a closet and a safety box. The room’s air-conditioned. The bathroom ain’t the prettiest in town, but it was spotless. Clean towels were provided. Teeny bars of soap too.
We just checked out this morning and already, I miss the guest house. Our canopy bed, the pool, and that lovey little gazebo outside our room where I mostly did some work. I thought of inquiring again about their available rooms but… but… this flat screen telly with cable channels in the hotel room we transferred to (about 600 meters away) is difficult to give up. Especially if it’s got Disney Channel that keeps the bub preoccupied.
Anyway, it was good while it lasted.

Charming guesthouse, indeed.
Actually, it looks more of a mini resort to me. Hope I can stay here in the near future. 😀
Yes it does look like a teeny resort!
Nothing beats Sanur for a serene Bali experience! would be happy to stay there over and over again 🙂
You know you’re travelling with a kid when you’ve got a Dora-stamped item in your luggage! 😀
Juan, very relaxed pace. Would have loved to stay there longer but am interested to see the other beaches.
Mel, LOL! Unfortunately, our daughter’s one of the fanatics.
Ganda naman. And it has Disney Channel AND a pool –> kiddie pacifier na sya! all it needs is a friendly dog and its a complete trifecta!
how do you find these places, gay? gaganda!
we were suppose to stay at sanur for our last 2 days in bali last month.. however kuta held us back.. love the place and will be back again.. 🙂
Eileen, we’re pretty lucky in finding hidden gems!
That Dora pillow, was it the hotel’s? Hang cute. Room’s a steal for $28.50 🙂
It’s Luna’s. Haha. She didn’t want to leave it at my mum-in-law’s house.
Ardee, yeah Kuta has that effect 🙂

You always find the most charming guesthouses/hotels! ♥
We’ve been lucky 🙂 Well okay, I researched heaps. LOL.
Ed, good enough for a web content writer. But yeah, the more cheaper places got crappy connection 🙁
The hotel is cool and very colorful and I have to agree with you with the bed its really huge and looks comfortable.
Wow! A great and beautiful guesthouse in Bali. I think this is best for family trips or a trip for two. 🙂
something tells me that if i were to build my own home someday, it got to be Balinese-themed. nice post! 🙂
That would be really pretty!
