A pond six times the size of an olympic swimming pool, could date back from 1 BC (gasp!) to 11 AD. Used by monks, about 5,000 of them, for their water requirements. Now that’s heaps!

Go green! Love the photo. Happy weekend. I love the new header also. I wish I have a friend as talented as your friend Leo. Haha.
Thanks Lito! Haha… You could befriend him naman. Just give him a concept and he’ll work on it 🙂
Sorry Gay, I got distracted with that header of yours… It’s really creative and wonderful… Well, elephants do need a huge pond, don’t they? They’re huge! AHEHEHEHEHE
Hey Jorie! I am glad the header got you distracted, but in a good way. Hihi.
It does look beautiful. Why is it called elephant pond?
Is that pond still used for holding and supplying water for the city today?
And does sitting water like that ever get toxic algae blooms?
I’m asking because here in New Zealand, some of our water holding ponds get blooms during the hot summer months. But when I travel to Ankor Wat and see their huge man made lakes, and now see this,I have to ask why they do not seem to?
Hi Nelieta! It’s named so because of its gigantic size.
Hey Jim. Nope, it’s not used anymore. It’s being preserved as a tourist site only.
super love the view! at ang ganda ng mudel!
hello gay. Same with jorie. I like the new design of your site. Bout the elephant pond, where is the source of the water, if there is any? Just curious lang.
Haha! CA, “mudel” talaga?
Hi Bonzenti, yup there is a source. This pond is actually man-made. As described on its marker, underwater conduits used to convey water from reservoirs to this pond. Amazing because this was already utilized in the 1st century BC!
na excite ako… 2 weeks na lang!!!
post ka pa bilis! (demanding? hahahahha)
Nice! I just wonder, where’s the elephant=)
Haha! Ron, I will try. But we’re about to leave again for another trip. This time with Luna. Weee!
I love the clear capture especially the reflection of green trees in the pond water as well as your attire color, ‘blends well in the pic.
Thanks Ian! Sumakto ang attire 🙂
Saktong sakto talaga outfit mo gurl! I soooo love this image. Super vivid ng kulay. 1st century BC pond. WOW!
