Couchsurfing For Families: As Awesome As It Gets

This seriously made my eyes well up.

Couchsurfing.org’s latest video (view previous videos here) focuses on a rarer breed of couchsurfers: The couchsurfing families. I drowned in the abyss of mushiness after listening to the sentiments of our spiritual comrades. Today, I shall let them do the talking for me.

Watch to find out how Couchsurfing paved the way for us to see the world in a whole different prism, together as families. Also, uhm, spot our daughter throwing a tantrum on cam.

When not backpacking, she teaches her daughter sight words and belly dancing (even if she's not good at it). She's currently eating her way around some hippie town in Australia. She loves talking about herself in the third person.

  1. Congrats Gay! You are indeed an inspiration for travelers, whether couchsurfers or otherwise πŸ˜‰ I don’t think I’m brave enough yet to try couchsurfing (mainly for safety issues, especially as a female solo traveler) but this makes me want to consider putting it on my must-do list. ;0

  2. Ms Gay you have accomplished a lot and now you’re a star! You have been an inspiration to many and I am one of them, I’m a big fan of you, I wish you knew that, haha., also your hubby and the cute little Luna who is now growing fast! I’ve watched how Luna (parang teleserye? hehe) has grown in a way that is unusual being a part of a nomadic family. God Bless Emami Family!

  3. I wish I have that same courage like you and your family has! You are an inspiration! I am a BIG fan here cheering you on your future adventures! Good luck and God bless the Emamis!!!!

  4. It had always amazed me to see families on the go ever since, but most of them are foreigners. That’s why it’s so striking to know a Filipino one, not just that, babae pa talaga. Wow! Keep in inspiring travelers like me! πŸ™‚

  6. Wow meron din palang couchsurfing for families! Interesting. I heard about couchsurfing from Aleah palang before.. Nice to know this! Thanks for sharing! And I so love your travels! πŸ˜‰

  7. This is the first time I hear about this. So it seems like to be “exchange student” program. But this one is unique because it’s the whole family. I’d love to try this one.

  8. I saw this before. Astig e no? Nakakatuwa. I doubt I’d be able to do this since FM won’t even sleep in a hostel type of place haha.

But … one can dream right?

  9. I noticed that most family who do this are small one. I mean just the father the mother and the son or daughter…I guess if bigger family would find it difficult to do this…

  10. haven’t tried but i believe it’s really great.. you are such an inspiration.. thanks for sharing this, possibility that we can share the world traveling with couchsurfing..

  11. Great to “meet you & your family”, Gay!

What a great adventure you are undertaking. Watched the video clip thrice because it warmed my heart.

I can imagine my family doing this but I have to say I have lots of respect for you and your family, who are actually doing it.

My hubby’s bestfriend who lives in Almere, Netherlands, have hosted a lot of couchsurfers. I was curious and I think signed up for it just to get to know it better but I must’ve been distracted because I did not get into it much deeper.

This video is, in my opinion, a great way to communicate positively the many benefits of couchsurfing for families!

Wishing you and your family, all the best!

  12. Congrats Enami Family! Mamaya may endorsement na rin ng baby products hihi <3

Kidding aside, ang cute talaga ni Baby Luna and reading your adventures as a traveling mommy and wife takes away my fear of being one in the future hehe
