I’ve got a dream, I’ve got a dream
And I know I can share it if you want me to
If you’re goin’ my way, I’ll go with you
– Jim Croce, I Got A Name
That dream was to travel around the world. It seemed far fetched for me – a Filipina who earns just enough to pay for my bills, and well, my parents’. But because of my palpable hunger for adventure and street-garnered knowledge, with magnanimous sacrifices, I began to make it happen.
And this day exactly a year ago, “Confessions of a Pinay Travel Junkie” was born so I could share my wanderful experiences to my fellow travel addicts.
I’ve always loved writing, but never believed that my articles were good enough to construct a travel blog for the whole world to see. At this point I send my deepest thanks and wettest kisses to Christine and Belle who persuaded me to put up my own site. And thanks to my backpacking partner-slash-hubby Shervin, for the uhm, domain payment. Without you guys, I might still be thinking that CSS codes are from outer space.
Through this blog my very few cult followers (perhaps no more than 5) were able to witness my growth from being a carefree solo backpacker, to a nomadic wifey, to an unexpected expectant newlywed in just one year!
The attention brought about by this site’s totally flattering. And it ain’t cause it gives a sort of celebrity blogger status, but because it shows you’re doing something right. Maybe even something inspirational. Now that should give anyone enough drive to continue writing.
I initially wanted to conduct a blogversary raffle, but I am currently 38 weeks pregnant and residing in a small farming town in Tarlac. Can’t find an attractive prize to give away (the “elders” only allow me to wander off within a 3km radius!). So ’til the next blogversary I guess.
Cheers! Now raising my glass of maternal milk.
